Star Trek 2017 showrunner Bryan Fuller tweeted a picture of an unfinished captains chair that is probably the seat from CBS’ new Star Trek series.
ICYMI: Star Trek 4 may return Trek to the original Prime timeline.
The bridge is the heart of every Star Trek series, and the captain’s chair is the centerpiece of the bridge. The captain’s chair is more than just a seat in Star Trek, it’s the center point on which the rest of the show revolves.
Bryan Fuller is the showrunner for CBS’ new Star Trek series and today he tweeted a picture of what appears to be an unfinished captain’s chair. Clearly this is the unupholstered version of the chair from the series.

Feast your eyes on that! Sure the chair is just wood now, but soon that chair will be the center of a whole new Star Trek series.
It’s interesting to see the chair because it means we are almost guaranteed to learn something about the new series during the Star Trek Comic-Con panel. Don’t get your hopes up for a trailer, the series hasn’t even started filming yet, but maybe we will get a cast announcement!
The chair also looks very modern and very prime timeline. We don’t see that chair looking right on the bridge of a ship from the pre-TNG era, that’s a post-TNG chair if we’ve ever seen one.
Hit the button below and take a look at the previous captain’s chairs and then let us know what you think.

The Original
The original Star Trek command chair obviously had a very 1960’s feel to it, but even to it set a standard for all other Trek series to follow. Kirk had a plethora of buttons and knobs on his chair ready to send messages all over the ship. Later in the post-TNG era com badges made this less of an issue for command chairs.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
The captain’s chair had already become much more comfortable by the time we get to Star Trek: The Motion Picture; of course the crew had also all gotten their snappy new red uniforms. Still we think the boldest style choice in this film was Bones’ civilian clothing.
Dr. Love!
Next: The Enterprise A
The Enterprise A
Star Trek bridge decor continues to evolve and the bridge chair is the centerpiece. I think the bridge of the Enterprise A might be one of the best bridges ever. Every part of this ship just looks fantastic, but the bridge is the center of it all.
Next: The Enterprise B
The Enterprise B
We only saw the Enterprise B for a few moments, but its Captain’s chair doesn’t look great. that thing looks like a car seat that has been put in the full upright position. No one puts the seat of their car in the full upright position.
Next: Enterprise C
The Enterprise C
The Enterprise C was only seen in one episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but it was one heck of an episode.
Next: The Enterprise D
The Enterprise D
The most comfortable starship in the galaxy of course had an extremely comfortable captain’s chair, but there’s one problem. It always bugged us that the captain’s chair of the Enterprise D was mounted to the wall instead of having it’s own base. A captain needs to be able to swivel.

Enterprise D Battle Bridge
When the Enterprise D separates its saucer section the crew takes to the battle bridge, even O’Brien gets to get involved.
Is it just us or does the captain’s chair of the battle bridge of the Enterprise D look just like the one on the Enterprise A? The battle bridge and the Enterprise A bridge are clearly related.
Next: Enterprise E
Enterprise E
The Sovereign class was sleek and modern, and finally Picard was able to swivel to asses dangerous situations coming at him from all directions. Jean-Luc was no longer tied down by Deanna and Riker.
Next: The Defiant
The Defiant
Benjamin Sisko’s captain’s chair was on a pedestal! YOU WILL LOOK UP AND RESPECT THE SISKO! He also brought back the buttons, Sisko was a Kirk in a lot of ways though after all. The Defiant was a war ship though, not a ship of exploration. The Defiant was ready to take the battle to the Dominion and with a swiveling chair with controls Sisko was ready to lead her there.
Next: Voyager
Voyager
Voyager was a sleek ship, but the bridge was weird. The captain’s chair was one of two instead of being a singular chair or one of three. It made it look like there were two captain’s on the bridge, it just isn’t our favorite captain’s chair.
Next: The NX-01
The Enterprise NX-01
Archer’s captain’s chair looks like the massage chair from Brookstone, I bet that thing has a vibration setting and a heat setting. Archer’s ship may have had a spartan feel to it, but he was clearly commanding from luxury.
