Star Trek fans should be excited for these new pieces of memorabilia.
One of the best parts about being a fan of Star Trek is all the cool memorabilia that is created for fans to purchase and enjoy. Sometimes it’s authentic, straight-from-the-set type of gear, and other times it’s fan-made for other fans. Of course, there is licensed memorabilia for fans as well and we’ve got a little bit of all that today.
From DVD’s to recreations, fans of Star Trek will want to take a look at these interesting items from around the net. They’ll of course cost you (possibly a pretty penny or two) but any diehard fan will want to consider getting their hands on this stuff.
First up, god old DVDs.
Star Trek: The Original Series Blu-ray Steelbooks

Despite some production delays, the Star Trek BluRay Steelbook set is in fact about to drop on Oct. 26, 2021. This is a repackaging of sorts, from the 2009 high-definition remastering. Those were released alongside Star Trek (2009).
As TrekCore.com describes it, all 79 original series episodes are here, plus the standard and extended version of the original pilot; The Cage. Each case contains six or seven discs, and the exterior features photos from the show, alongside the standard Starfleet color schemes of gold, red and blue.

The Wand Company’s Tricorder
The Wand Company is known for some pretty impressive recreations and original creations for fans to get their hands on. Some of their more famous pieces they’ve created were a recreation of an original series phaser that’s actually a remote control, an Original Series mood rock that doubles as a light, and a Bluetooth communicator designed like the original series communicator devices.
Unlike past pieces of merchandise, their new piece, the tricorder is less functional and more like a walking encyclopedia of sorts. The device is said to have a working screen that is controlled by buttons on the hood, and one of which doubles as a joystick. The button’s functionality is controlled by which one of the corresponding “data discs” are located where.
According to the Trek Collective, the discs are color-coordinated, in part so that the internal sensor knows what’s what and they come in grey, blue, brown, beige, green, red, yellow, and black.
Captain log’s from the episodes are grey (Logs), details about the planets in our solar system are blue (Planetary), brown is for sound recording functions (Audio), beige is apparently a weather service of sorts (Atmosphere). Green is an FM radio and “EM field sensor” (Radiation), red is a digital compass (Orientation), while yellow will give the user updates on the device and on the Enterprise (Status), while the last one, the black disc, will have historical information and images (Archive).
No word on the price for this, though you can follow along with the device over at the official blog.

New Star Trek 3D Chess Collection figurines
Star Trek has created a new take on the traditional game of chess with their 3D Chess, and Hero Collector is adding to the uniqueness of the game with their brand new 3D chess figurines. Hero Collector is known for creating unique figurine and vehicle models for collectors, and they’re apparently diversifying their collection with these Star Trek chess pieces.
There are eight pieces in the set, from Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation, and those eight pieces are (from TrekCollective).
"Captain Picard (TNG King)"
"Captain Kirk (TOS King)"
"Data (TNG Rook)"
"Spock (TOS Bishop)"
"Borg Queen (Aliens Queen)"
"Worf (TNG Knight)"
"Gorn, Enterprise-era (Aliens Rook)"
"Xindi Insectoid (Aliens Pawn)"
"Tasha Yar (TNG Knight)"
The figurines are available through their website as a sort of subscription, and if you sign up you’ll get Picard with your first order. This isn’t their first foray into chess pieces, and have been known to sell the individual pieces on their own once the original lineup has been shipped out. So it’s possible in a few months to a year, that you’ll be able to purchase the whole lot at once for a few dollars per piece.
The company also sells a 3D piece chessboard for over $300 according to their website. So this won’t be an inexpensive hobby.
