Patrick Stewart has already wrapped his three-season run as Admiral Picard.

With production of Star Trek: Picard season three completed, the series is effectively at an end, at least for the actors. The viewers still have the third season to look forward to when it airs on Paramount+ in 2023, and in that last season we will likely see the very last of Admiral Jean-Luc Picard as well.

Series star Patrick Stewart confirmed to Variety that he was done with playing one of the best captains to grace television and movie screens. When asked if he would ever play Picard again, Stewart responded in a way that left no room for doubt.

"“I think that Picard has said his last sentence and given his last look at his colleagues.”"

Patrick Stewart is emotional about how Star Trek: Picard ends in season three.

Picard wrapped five weeks ago after filming season two and three concurrently, a production which ran for thirteen months which was, undoubtedly, a grueling schedule. But Stewart says the ending of the series is perfect, and he gets emotional just thinking about it. Having that kind of satisfaction makes the hard work worthwhile.

With most of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation joining in for the final season of Picard, there will be a lot more focus on those crew members than the current stars of the series. In fact, only Michelle Hurd and Jeri Ryan are confirmed to be appearing in the show’s final season while the return of others, like Orla Brady, still remain questionable.

Though The Next Generation fans are looking forward to seeing the reunion, dedicated viewers of Star Trek: Picard are probably going to take issue with the loss of most of the current cast. But as the TNG actors aren’t returning for cameos only, room had to be made to finally wrap up their stories as well. And this will be the last time we get to see all of them interact with their beloved Captain (now Admiral) Jean-Luc Picard.
