Star Trek: Picard just ended an amazingly well done season to wrap up the series.

For its first two seasons, Star Trek: Picard got a lot of negative attention from Star Trek fans who didn’t like the deviation from how Captain Jean-Luc was portrayed on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Patrick Stewart’s Admiral Jean-Luc Picard was retired and didn’t seem to have the fire that the captain had.  That changed with this most recent season.

Reunited with his former colleagues and friends, Picard discovers he has a son from a previous relationship he had with Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) and that his son is connected to the Borg. The entire season is a compelling mixture of emotional reconnections, action, danger, and bits of wry comedy. And it worked, which is why Jonathan Frakes is hoping the show will earn a much-deserved Emmy.

Star Trek: Picard has more than earned, at the very least, an Emmy nomination.

Interviewing Frakes for Screenrant, writer John Orquiola mentioned there was a lot of chatter about the potential for an Emmy nomination for Frakes because of his time as Riker. While Frakes was on board with that, he’s also hoping for a nomination for Best Drama for Picard as well as a nomination for Patrick Stewart. So far, Star Trek: The Next Generation has been the only Star Trek series to get such a nomination and that was back in 1994. So it’s past time for more recognition for the franchise.

"“Yeah. It would be a great way to finish things up. Get Patrick a nomination, get the show nominated. It’d be just brilliant.”"

Though there are talks of a spin-off, unfortunately, Star Trek: Picard is at an end, and having the series and actors recognized for their hard work bringing this incredible third season to fans would be a fitting way to wrap up this incredible story that ended all too soon.
