Aaron Waltke, the executive producer of Star Trek: Prodigy, just shared the news fans of Star Trek: Prodigy have been waiting for!

Paramount+ cancelled Star Trek: Prodigy in April of this year, and since then, while the creatives behind the scenes have been working to find Prodigy another streaming home, fans have been working to spread the word. Though animated, this show isn’t just for kids, and it’s a great starting place for viewers who’ve never seen an episode of Star Trek, allowing them to learn alongside Dal and his crew. So finally, after six months, the series has been saved!

Waltke posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier today that Netflix had decided to pick up the series.

Netflix shared the news about Star Trek: Prodigy as well

If there was ever a reason not to cancel your Netflix subscription, it’s definitely now as the first season of Prodigy will launch on the streaming channel later on this year while the second season will make its debut in 2024.

Walke acknowledged that the fandom had a large part in saving the series, and said the team was grateful and humbled by the outpouring of support. He then encouraged fans to go spread the word about Prodigy’s new home. before ending the tweet with “Together…We Saved Star Trek: Prodigy.”

Walke’s post has been viewed over 84,000 times with fans sharing and retweeting the good news. And the comments have been filled with joy, with many fans even saying they would subscribe to Netflix just for this series.

The successful campaign to save Prodigy after six months just goes to show how much fan involvement can make an impact. And, thank goodness, Star Trek fans can be some of the most involved of all!
