Star Trek alums Nichelle Nichols, Armin Shimerman, and Whoopie Goldberg recieve Daytime Emmy nominations.

Nichelle Nichols has already had an incredible career as an actress, but now she can add yet another accolade to her long list, a Daytime Emmy Nomination. Nichols has been nominated for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her role as Lucinda Wintersher on The Young and The Restless.

The Wintersher role saw Nichols portraying a dying mother and was dramatic even by daytime soap standards. There’s no doubt that Nichelle Nichols is still at the top of the acting game. After all her years in televsion and film it would be truly fantastic to see Nichols win an Emmy.

Check out Nichols’ fantastic performance in The Young and the Restless for yourself.

Nichols wasn’t the only Star Trek alum to pick up a nomination though. Whoopie Goldberg and the View cast were nominated for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.

Even Armin Shimerman appeared in this year’s Daytime Emmy nominations. Shimerman was nominated for Outstanding Supporting or Guest Actor in a Digital Daytime Drama Series. The veteran of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine plays Max on an online show called Red Bird.

I love seeing Star Trek alums getting these kinds of honors. It’s really spectacular to see Trek alums continuing to do great things after Trek. It’s truly one of the perks of having such a long term franchise that so many great actors have been involved in Trek. Congratulations to Nichelle Nichols, Armin Shimerman, and Whoopie Goldberg!

The Daytime Emmy Awards will be held on April 28th.
