Janeway Says Do It!

A hilarious video compilation of all the times Star Trek: Voyager’s Captain Janeway says “do it!”

ICYMI: Rod Roddenberry says he has“tremendous hopes” for the new Star Trek series.

You can really see why Star Trek: Voyager‘s Captian Janeway’s catchphrase never caught on when you hear it over and over. Jean-Luc Picard had “make it so”, Spock had “live long and prosper”, Checkov had “wessel”, but Janeway ended up with “do it!”

The “do it” catchphrase was probably supposed to help define Janeway as a no nonsense captain, but in reality it just came off as a bit annoying.  Star Trek: Voyager is wonderful, but there’s no denying that the show had problems, and many of those problems start and end with Janeway.

Having a female captain was exciting and fun, did we have to give her “do it” as her catchphrase?

Jean-Luc Picard’s catchphrase was turned into a hilarious Christmas song, Janeway’s catchphrase was just hilarious on its own.  Perhaps someone should have told Janeway that she was using “do it” the way a teenager uses “like.”

Here’s hoping that the new Trek series’ captain gets a better catchphrase than poor Janeway did.  In the meantime however this video was pretty hilarious. I’ll probably be walking around issuing orders with “do it” for the rest of the day!
