The Enterprise D

Did you know the Enterprise was a mommy? It sure was! In the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Galaxy’s Child” the Enterprise itself becomes the adopted mother of a space whale that the crew names Junior.

The Enterprise was trying to peacefully study or communicate with Junior’s mother when she suddenly attacked.  Her attack forced the Enterprise to respond and fire phasers.  Sadly the phaser fire killed Junior’s mom and when the baby emerged it latched on to the ship as it’s new mother.

This of course leads to the crew spending the rest of the episode finding a way to get rid of Junior without hurting him or letting him drain all the ships energy. So does that make the ship the mother or Picard?
