Aron Eisenberg played Nog, the first Ferengi in Starfleet, in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. We watched as Nog grew from a mischievous Ferengi who was a bad influence on Jake Sisko to an exemplary Starfleet ensign. In one of the possible futures laid out by Deep Space Nine we find out that Nog is captain of a starship. It’s been seventeen years since Nog was an ensign. Perhaps it’s time to pick up with his adventures as newly installed Captain Nog.

Nog would face many of the same dilemmas he did in DS9 weighing his Ferengi side against the Starfleet principles he has embraced. It could remind us of the same kind of fun we had watching Spock learn to balance his Vulcan and human sides.

Of course, if Nog is the captain of a Starfleet ship the ship would need to have a name that also parallels his Ferengi heritage; how does “Captain Nog of the USS Bounty” sound?
