Julie Bowen
Julie Bowen plays the wife of Phil Dunphy, mother of their children and CEO of a closet conglomerate in Modern Family. She balances being a leader at work with family life extremely well which first made us think about her for the role of Star Trek captain. She looks after her chaotic family and takes care of all their issues, as well as managing a business she took over from her father, and she makes it all look easy.
We can imagine her in the captain’s chair, barking orders at underperforming ensigns and micro managing her staff. She might cause a bit of friction between the team, but in the end she would earn the respect of those around her.
If the producers of the new series choose Julie Bowen, she will become the second female captain after Kate Mulgrew, who played Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager. Julie Bowen would bring something very different from Janeway, and a lot more fun we think. Janeway was always so serious about everything and refused to ever break the rules, even when lost, trillions of miles from home. In that situation, we think that Julie Bowen as captain would perhaps bend the rules to get what she wanted.
