British comedian David Mitchell is best known for Peep Show and his multiple appearances on British panel talk shows. Mitchell’s humor can best be described as snooty, uppercrust, and with a touch of melancholy. He wouldn’t be a big name draw as the next Star Trek captain but his intelligent brand of wit and humor would lend itself well into a series which prides itself on being smart.

Mitchell also admitted in an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show that he spent much of his childhood casting himself as part of the crew of the Enterprise. He described his role as “Captain Kirk’s boss.”
