Superstar singer Rihanna says her new sunglasses were inspired by Geordi La Forge from Star Trek.

ICYMI: Space visionary Elon Musk says Star Trek inspired him.

Star Trek has influenced our world in so many ways since its inception, usually in the realm of technology.  Star Trek had wearable tech before Google was a company, iPads before iOS had even been imagined, and flip-phones before we knew what flip-phones were.

It seems that technology is not the only area that Star Trek is inspiring the people though. World-renowned fashion house, Dior, have unveiled a new range of sunglasses that were designed by Rihanna supposedly with Geordi La Forge in mind.

We know Rhianna loves Trek, she was part of the video titled “What Star Trek Means To Me” shown at the Star Trek Beyond Fan event.

The glasses, seen below, will retail for around $800, but you can get a gold plated pair for $1,950 if you are feeling extra frivolous. In a statement released by Dior Rihanna said that Geordi La Forge from Star Trek had been her inspiration for the new shades.

Rhianna told WWD:

"“I’ve always been obsessed with his eyewear, and when I got to Dior and saw all the materials I could play with, it all just came together. The process was pretty seamless. I spent a day at Dior with their eyewear design team. I started by looking through all the archives to see what they’ve done in the past, and then got acquainted with all the new materials. I literally sat there and drew and drew until I was happy with the design, and the team illustrated it for me right then and there. We picked materials and colors that same day, and after that it was a matter of weeks before I saw the first prototype.”"
