The UK has been gripped in a political fever over the past few weeks with the Brexit vote causing chaos across the country and creating political divides amongst friends and family. Fortunately, if you are a Star Trek fan looking for a little respite from the ‘In’ or ‘Out’ debate, you can head down to Blackpool for the largest UK Star Trek event of the year so far.

Star Trek: The Exhibition opens on the famous Golden Mile in Blackpool from Thursday 30th June and promises to showcase a whole host of Star Trek props, sets, photos and costumes to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the franchise. Fans of the Star Trek franchise will be thrilled by the sheer scale of memorabilia on show, with rare items never before seen in Europe.

I managed to catch up with Neel Sood who handles the PR for the event:

"Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your association with Star Trek?Sure- Basically I work for a company called Target-Live, that’s handling the PR and social media for the exhibition. We’re working in partnership with CBS and the official Star Trek license to organise everything and reach out to the community. Personally, I’ve been a Star Trek fan since I was a kid and I spent my afternoons after school watching re-runs of Voyager and The Next Generation. Can you tell us a bit about Star Trek: The Exhibition? It’s the biggest Star Trek event to hit the UK this year, and we’ve put it together to celebrate 50 years of Star Trek. We’ve brought together thousands of authentic props, costumes, concept art, sets and replicas of ships and weapons. The exhibition takes place in Blackpool, starting on the 30th June. You get free entry for the first 2 days if you show up in a full Star Trek costume of your choice- we want as many Gorn, Klingons and Cardassians wandering around as possible! What are the main attractions that will bring people in?We are running a Trek film festival, that will show each of the Star Trek films as well as screenings of the new film, Star Trek Beyond. We’ve also got other attractions, such as a full reconstruction of the Enterprise NCC-1701 bridge, the Sickbay TNG, Engineering and the Scorpion. There will also be many multimedia attractions that will fully immerse visitors in the Trek universe."
