30 Reasons Why Captain Picard is Better than Captain Kirk

It is highly debated among Star Trek fans over which captain is the best but we’re going to be looking at Captain Picard vs Captain Kirk.

Everyone has their favorite Star Trek captain and whether it is Captain Picard or Captain Kirk or even Captain Benjamin Sisko, you fight for your favorite. But we’re going to be looking at specifically why Captain Jean-Luc Picard is better than Captain James Tiberius Kirk.

As someone who truly loves Captain Kirk, it is hard to look at Picard and Kirk and pick which one is my favorite. But judging them purely on who is a better captain overall, it is clear that Jean-Luc is more fit for the job in a lot of ways.

Now this is excluded the reboot of Kirk in the new film franchise. If we were looking at that Kirk, it’d be an entirely different story. But since we are focusing our efforts on Original Series Kirk and Jean-Luc Picard, it is easy to see why Picard would win out.

From his skill set as a master debater to Patrick Stewart’s acting techniques, Picard is very clearly the better captain all the way around. Not only is he more by the books than Kirk, but he also is more willing to work with his entire crew and not just the same two men every mission.
