Maine – Andrea Martin
Andrea Martin has an impressive list of accomplishments concerning her television and film acting. She’s appeared in everything from horror movies like Black Christmas to fun animated films like Anastasia and The Rugrats Movie. She has been known to kill it on Broadway as well, picking up several Tony Award wins and nominations throughout her life. But Star Trek fans may remember her fondly from her stint in the Trekkie universe.
On Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Martin plays Quark’s iconoclastic mother Ishka in the episode “Family Business”. For the role, heavy make-up was applied to make her appear as if she were much older. In reality, Martin is actually three years younger than Armin Shimerman, who plays Quark. Ishka does not have the same moral code that her son Quark does, as he encourages her to confess her crimes and pay profits she owes to the Ferengi government. She sneakily tricks both Quark and the government into thinking she has repaid, when in fact she only gave back a third of her ill-gotten profits.
Martin still acts to this day. She is a recurring character on the Hulu original series Difficult People. She also regularly lends her voice acting skills to many cartoons and animated feature films.
