Massachusetts – Leonard Nimoy
You knew Leonard Nimoy was going to be on this list somewhere. If you knew he was a Massachusetts native, then you would’ve already known exactly where to find him here. But there was no way someone else could have taken his spot, as Nimoy is clearly one of the very best actors to ever take part in the Star Trek universe.
Ever since the original unaired pilot, Nimoy had been playing Science Officer Spock. As a Vulcan, Spock was used to establish one of the most interesting alien races ever depicted in science fiction. Spock is such an iconic character that even those who’ve never watched a single Star Trek episode or movie still recognize him. It’d be easy to make a case for Spock being the most important character in the franchise.
After the initial run on Star Trek, Nimoy grew to loathe playing Spock. He didn’t want to be typecasted and was eager to take new roles. He even wrote a book called “I Am Not Spock”. But as the years went by, he grew to really appreciate his time on Star Trek and all of his fans. Later, he would write “I AM Spock”, finally fully embracing the character which made him famous.
