Arkansas – Daniel Davis

Daniel Davis has several notable film roles, such as Captain Davenport in The Hunt For Red October. But he’s certainly more prolific on television. He has many roles on TV stretching from the early 80s to an appearance last year on the FOX drama series Gotham.

Davis has a naturally Southern American accent. However, he has perfected an English accent so well, many people he is actually British. This would even play into the role he played on Star Trek: The Next Generation, in which he delivered an excellent accent as Professor James Moriarty.

As Professor Moriarty, James would appear in two different The Next Generation episodes. He’s in “Elementary, Dear Data” and “Ship in a Bottle”. In his first appearance, Moriarty appears in a Sherlock Holmes Holodeck simulation being run by Data. He is revealed to be evil and the simulation is ended, so the trouble is over, right?

Not so. The sentient Holodeck character is wants to be freed from the Holodeck, putting the Enterprise in trouble. The crew ends up tricking Moriarty into believing they freed him, when they really just put him into an eternal simulation of having escaped and believes to be flying away.
