Oklahoma – Alfre Woodard

If you know your film and TV pretty well, you probably know the accomplished actress Alfre Woodard. Let’s just take a second to go through some of the performer’s greatest accomplishments. Woodard has won a Golden Globe Award, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards. She has also received an additional 14 nominations for Emmy Awards, as well as noms for an Academy Award and a Grammy Award.

In other words, Alfre Woodard is absolutely incredible at what she does.

As you could expect, Woodard has tons of movie and TV roles. But the Oklahoma native has made her mark in the Star Trek world. She appears in the feature film Star Trek: First Contact as Zefram Cochrane’s assistant Lily Sloane. This role would earn her wide critical acclaim, with fans and critics both taking a shine to the character and Woodard’s performance. First Contact is one of the most enjoyable Star Trek movies, and Woodard’s contribution to the movie played a part in making that so.

Woodard is just as busy today as she was earlier in her career. She still regularly acts, recently having appeared in the Netflix original series Marvel’s Luke Cage.
