Portland native Kim Rhodes has made a decent career for herself with acting. She might be best known as Cindy Harrison, a soap opera character appearing on both Another World and As the World Turns. Younger viewers may first recognize her as Zack and Cody’s mom on the Disney sitcom The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
But Star Trek: Voyager fans will first think of Ensign Lyndsay Ballard when it comes to Kim Rhodes. A love interest for Harry Kim, Ballard had known her fellow ensign ever since her days at Starfleet Academy. For a long time, Kim had the biggest crush on her, something she was never aware of. After they both wind up on the Voyager, it would seem they had a promising future.
You know how it is with ensigns, though. During an away team mission with Kim gone horribly awry, Lyndsay is killed by hostiles. But that still wouldn’t be the last time we would hear from her. Following her burial in space, her body was recovered by the Kobali, who reanimated her to join their ranks.
Renamed Jhet’leya, the former ensign would return to the Voyager to resume her life as Lyndsay. But she would soon discover that everything about her was different. Unable to return to her former life, Jhet’leya ends up rejoining the Kobali, leaving Starfleet forever.
