The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard

Soon you’ll be able to read about the life and times of one of Starfleet’s most celebrated captains in ‘The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard.’

There have been a lot of Star Trek novels written. I remember reading them as a kid while Star Trek: The Next Generation was still on the air, and they of course existed before that. Now it’s getting hard for me to keep up with all the different series of books out there. There are so many new Star Trek novels each year that it’s easy to lose your place.

One new Star Trek book coming out this year is a must read however, it’s The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard. This is such a clever and intriguing idea for a Star Trek novel. Instead of just having another random story of the Enterprise you get the full life of one of Starfleet’s most celebrated captains.

Jean-Luc Picard is the perfect Star Trek character to receive this honor. You can see Picard sitting down in his French chateau with some Earl Grey tea to write his life’s story. Picard’s thoughtful and contemplative nature should make this a very entertaining read. I’m especially excited to read Picard’s thought’s on his old nemesis Q now that he’s done being a captain.

According to IGN The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard will hit shelves next September and be brought to you by Titan Books.

If this format works for Picard I hope they carry it over and continue it with other Trek characters. The other captains and Spock would of course be obvious choices. I’d love to get a Riker or Weyoun autobiography myself, though those are probably a long shot.
