IDW Publishing Teases Star Trek Summer Releases
By Ketwolski
IDW Publishing is set to release several new titles and various sequels to their Star Trek themed comic line.
Since the successful ‘Boldly Go’ tie-in for Star Trek 2009, IDW publishing has steadily increased their yearly Trek-themed comic releases. Now, almost 10 years later, IDW has leveraged the franchise into a library crossing multiple iterations of the Enterprise crew.3
Startrek.com, is now reporting that 6 new comics will be released during the summer of 2017. The titles include:
-Star Trek: Boldly Go #10
-Star Trek: New Vision, Vol. 5
-Star Trek/Green Lantern, Vol. 2
-Star Trek: The Classic UK, Vol. 3
-Star Trek: TNG: Mirror Broken #3
-Star Trek Waypoint #6
Prices range for each comic from $3.99 up to $49.00; the UK Classic comic being the most expensive. The comics are expected to be released during the months of June and July; no confirmed dates as of yet.
So which comic are we looking forward to the most?
Star Trek: Boldly Go, duh! This series continues to expand upon the mythos and universe of the Kelvin-timeline. This issue promises to detail an alien threat against the Yorktown Space station and the under-construction Enterprise-A. For me, seeing the process that the Enterprise-A is taking to get built is a sure-fire way to get me to purchase this issue!
I’m also looking forward to seeing what information about Chekov, Kirk, and Jayla we might receive post-ST: Beyond. The Boldly Go comic will run 32 pages and cost around $3.99.
The Green Lantern issue is something else I will most likely pick-up; if only to see how the story finishes out. I reviewed this series, along with a few other Trek themed ‘crossovers’.
I’m also partial to ANYTHING taking place in the mirror universe. The idea of muscled up, sexy, and goatee wearing Starfleet officers will always peak my interest.
