Star Trek: Discovery copying Star Wars?
We finally have the first image from Star Trek: Discovery and it’s being compared to Star Wars, but we think it looks like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s desert gear.
We finally have an image from Star Trek: Discovery and it’s already stirred up some internet controversy. Many people, including SyfyWire, are saying that the image looks like something from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There’s no doubt that Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham and Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou do look a bit like Rey out on the sands of Jakku.
There’s also another explanation though, it could be that these are simply early timeline versions of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine desert uniforms seen in “Shadows and Symbols.”

The idea for a Starfleet desert uniform that has khaki colors, appears to be made from linen, and has a hood and cloak was around long before Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
This feels like the internet searching for a reason to criticize the new show more than anything else. You have to expect this sort of thing when you finally get a peak at something like a new Star Trek series.
We will certianly know more soon. There’s supposed to be a Star Trek: Discovery trailer of some kind dropping today. Let’s hope that this one contains a little more footage of the actual show. We would hate to have to wait for Comic-Con to see more of Discovery.
