Star Trek: The Motion Picture is a contested subject among Trekkies. Some see the film as a wonderful continuation of Star Trek: The Original Series, and some see it as a slow and poorly paced film. The one thing nobody argues about is the music, the music from Star Trek: The Motion Picture was simply fantastic.
This is why I was original skeptical when I saw a recut of the film with the music from Daft Punk’s modern Tron: Legacy soundtrack. How could you take out the one thing that Star Trek: The Motion Picture nailed?
In the end though this fun recut of the film with the Tron: Legacy music just works. Patrick Collins has managed to create an all new Star Trek film.

I have to say Star Trek: Legacy now goes on the list as one of my favorite Star Trek films.
The music from Tron: Legacy really gives Star Trek: The Motion Picture a whole new life. It gives familiar scenes a new eerie feel that really heightens the drama and intensity of some of those early 1980’s visuals.
The music of Star Trek: The Motion Picture is still a masterpiece, but this recut may be a masterpiece as well.
