The internet went crazy when it was announced that not only would classic Star Trek swindler Harcourt Fenton Mudd be in Star Trek: Discovery, but that he would be played by Rainn Wilson.
Harry Mudd was of course a famous interstellar con man played by Roger C. Camel in Star Trek: The Original Series. The flamboyant Mudd has been a Trekkie favorite since he first appeared in the TOS episode “Mudd’s Women.” So no matter who played Mudd there was bound to be excitement among Trekkies to hear that he would return in Discovery.
Star Trek: Discovery’s younger Mudd will be played by Rainn Wilson. Wilson is of course best known for playing Dwight Schrute in the American version of The Office.
Now Trekmovie.com is reporting that Wilson’s Mudd won’t just be a guest star, but may appear in multiple episodes of Star Trek: Discovery. We went and checked the Star Trek: Discovery IMDB page and Harry Mudd is listed as appearing in nine episodes of Discovery in the show’s first season. We don’t know if the recent addition of two more Discovery episodes will increase that total. Obviously Harry Mudd is going to play a big role in Discovery and Rainn Wilson is going to be much more than a guest star.
