Let’s take a look at what might have happened if Shinzon had been able to kill Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Nemesis.
It’s time for another Star Trek what if scenario with our buddy Ketwolski. This time Ket made a video breaking down what he thinks would have happened if Shinzon had managed to kill Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Nemesis.
First let’s see what
has to say on this crazy Trek scenario.

Well if Shinzon had managed to kill Picard he might have succeeded in destroying earth… but it’s still a maybe. Starfleet has faced many invasions and alien powers with super weapons trying to destroy the heart of the Federation and Sector 001 in particular. None of these have succeeded other than the Xindi attack on Florida. The loss of Jean-Luc Picard would have been a huge blow, but it wouldn’t necessarily have meant that Starfleet wouldn’t have pulled a rabbit out of their hat and found a way to save earth.
Shinzon getting more juice for his attack on earth doesn’t necessarily mean it would work either. He’d still have to deal with one very pissed off William Riker. Riker would have gone to any lengths to stop him as well. So Shinzon would be healthy, but that doesn’t mean he would be on easy street.
Why Shinzon wanted to destroy earth so bad always bothered me. It was the Romulans who created and tortured him, so why didn’t he want to destroy Romulus more than anything? I get that he saw earth as the only competition to Remus after the takeover of Romulus, but that’s just a stretch. These folks who enslaved me get a pass, so I can destroy their greatest enemy.
