CBS has released solo promo clips for several members of the crew of Star Trek: Discovery, including First Officer Michael Burnham and four others.
CBS has been doing their part in building anticipation for Star Trek: Discovery as we near the September 24th launch date. They’ve been releasing a steady stream of video clips, including a promo teaser which could be the intro scene to the show, and a number of posters for the characters on the show.
Starting earlier this week, they began releasing solo promo videos for five main characters on Star Trek CBS’ Instagram page.
Naturally, the first video they released was of Captain Philippa Georgiou off the U.S.S. Shenzhou, played by Michelle Yeoh. She holds a phaser rifle on her shoulder as the camera zooms in.
The next promo clip is of First Officer Michael Burnham, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. The camera slowly zooms in on her as she lowers a hand phaser to her hip.
Next up comes Science Officer Lieutenant Saru, played by Doug Jones. Saru is a Kelpien, a new race to the Star Trek universe, hence his unfamiliar appearance if you’re new to this Discovery information.
That was followed on Friday by Captain Gabriel Lorca, played by Jason Isaacs. Unlike Burnham and Georgiou, Isaacs is raising his phaser to the ready position as the camera zooms in.
The final video, released on Saturday, is of Lieutenant Paul Stamets, played by Anthony Rapp. Stamets is a science officer and astromycologist.
Next: Star Trek Discovery is set to arrive at the perfect time
We’re just about a month and a half from the first Star Trek to hit the small screen in over a decade, and if the last week is any indication, CBS isn’t going to be letting up on the flow of news. There are a number of cast members not included in these videos, including all of the Klingon characters, so expect to see them in the next couple days.
