The newest Star Trek: Discovery trailer released by CBS features First Officer Michael Burnham on a recon mission, and a voiceover from Captain Gabriel Lorca.
CBS released our daily fix of Star Trek: Discovery on Tuesday in the form of a 30 second trailer featuring First Officer Michael Burnham commencing a recon mission in space in a Starfleet environmental suit.
Check out the trailer above embedded from our Twitter account @redshirtsdieFS, complete with obligatory TV-MA rating.
The voiceover begins with Burnham announcing “This is Commander Burnham. Commencing reconnaissance mission.” The countdown for thruster ignition begins.

Next on the center stage is Captain Gabriel Lorca, who begins: “You are explorers. You chose to go where no one has gone before.”
We get some looming shots of the Klingon sanctuary ship and Lorca sliding on his back to fire a phaser, and we hear Cadet Sylvia Tilly (Burnham’s roommate) speak for the first time, saying: “This is so cool!”
We then cut to Lorca as the trailer ends, and he says: “Fortune favors the bold.”
It’s an action packed trailer with fairly non-stop dialogue, but it doesn’t give us much new information, other than the fact that Burnham’s clips in the environmental suit are not from an evacuation, but recon.
Also, Lorca seems to spend a lot of time pumping up his crew with inspirational speeches.
