A look ahead at Discovery’s “Context Is For Kings”

With Star Trek: Discovery’s pilot episodes in the books, the new series is set to take a turn. We’ll take a look at what we know of “Context Is For Kings”.

Star Trek: Discovery’s pilot episodes “The Vulcan Hello” and “Battle At The Binary Stars” took the form of something of a cinematic experience, and the new series is about to take a turn. Episode three, “Context Is For Kings”, appears to be another stage of pilot, the first episode of Michael Burnham’s journey aboard the USS Discovery, the show’s namesake vessel.

This episode is directed by Akiva Goldsman who is also one of Discovery’s cadre of executive producers. Goldsman has directed such films as “I Am Legend” and “A Beautiful Mind”, and he was a consulting producer on the show Fringe.

In this episode we Burnham en route to prison to serve her life sentence for assaulting a superior officer and mutiny, when she is assigned to the USS Discovery to assist Captain Gabriel Lorca with a secret assigment.

We’ll get to see not only the ship and her captain, but her crew at long last as well, including Lieutenant Paul Stamets.
