Star Trek: Discovery’s pilot episodes “The Vulcan Hello” and “Battle At The Binary Stars” took the form of something of a cinematic experience, and the new series is about to take a turn. This episode is directed by Akiva Goldsman who is also one of Discovery’s cadre of executive producers. Goldsman has directed such films as “I Am Legend” and “A Beautiful Mind”, and he was a consulting producer on the show Fringe.

In this episode we Burnham en route to prison to serve her life sentence for assaulting a superior officer and mutiny, when she is assigned to the USS Discovery to assist Captain Gabriel Lorca with a secret assigment.

We’ll get to see not only the ship and her captain, but her crew at long last as well, including Lieutenant Paul Stamets.
