Three Star Trek actors have been chosen to lend their voices to the upcoming The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance series on Netflix.

If you are of a certain age, then you remember exactly where you were in 1982 when you first saw The Dark Crystal.

Directed by Jim Henson, the now classic film told the story of a Gelfling and his quest to restore balance to his world of Thra by healing the broken Dark Crystal. The movie was entierly done with puppets and animatronics and Brian Froud did the concept work for the project.

Groundbreaking at the time, The Dark Crystal was nonetheless considered a financial disappointment. However, that didn’t stop the film from becoming a certified classic that generations of filmgoers have come to appreciate and adore over the years.

Now Netflix is producing a new Dark Crystal project titled The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance. The 10-episode series will be a prelude to the events of the movie and will use the same type puppets and practical effects that was used by Henson back in 1982.

The series has also assembled a very impressive voice cast, which reads like a who’s who of the acting world. And it includes three Star Trek veterans that you may have heard of.

As reported by Digital Spy, the cast includes the talents of Simon Pegg from the recent Star Trek reboot films as well as Shazad Latif and Jason Isaacs, who of course are part of Star Trek: Discovery. In addition, the cast also includes someone named Mark Hamill from a movie called Star Wars or something and a number of other incredible talents.

Latif will be playing a Gelfling while Issacs and Pegg will be portraying the Skesis and Mystics.

Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of Original Series, sounds like she is pretty excited about the voice cast that they have assembled for the show.

"“We knew we had to entice some incredible voice talent to add dimension to the exquisite artistry of the puppeteers who bring the characters to life.“I am proud to say that this may be one of the finest casts assembled from the world’s favourite TV shows and movies.”"
