Top 6 ways the Star Trek franchise can move forward

Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Discovery have both delved into the pre-Star Trek timeline with decidedly mixed results according to fans. While Enterprise did a lot of things right, particularly towards the end of it’s run and many fans enjoyed the things that came before it did ultimately get cancelled earlier then expected and lead to a long period of dormancy for the franchise.

Discovery however has received much of its mixed reviews as a result of both the change in look, bringing it closer to the Kelvin Timeline in terms of appearance, and its early Klingon War plot which many see as continuing to push the action adventure genre of the new movie series.

Despite many calls for a return to the period between Enterprise and Discovery to finally tell us the story of the Earth Romulan War another foray into prequel territory may not be in the best interests of the franchise at this time.
