Star Trek Online announces Mirror of Discovery update

In celebration of Star Trek Online’s anniversary, they have announced a new update launching this January titled Mirror of Discovery.

Players of Star Trek Online were thrust headfirst into the world of Star Trek: Discovery with the release of Age of Discovery late last year. The new update let players create a new captain and adventure with none other than Cadet Sylvia Tilly. The three-part expansion also added a new Tier to Reputations, lots of new missions and Task Force Operations, which is a fancy new name for PvE and PvP experiences.

Now, the Age of Discovery grows once again with the announcement of a new update coming later in January titled Mirror of Discovery. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what content is being added to the game with a name like that.

Mirror of Discovery features the first appearance of Captain Sylvia “Killy” Tilly (voiced by Mary Wiseman) and what happened to her and the crew of the I.S.S. Discovery. The expansion begins in the year 2410 and allows players to meet and interact with the Slayer of Sorna Prime and discover what exactly happened to the Mirror version of Discovery on that fateful day.

Mirror of Discovery will feature two episodes titled “Para Pacem” and “The Illusion of Communication.” As the new content unfolds, players will have to stop Captain Tilly from her plan to destroy the forest planet of Pahvo.

In addition, in celebration of Star Trek Online’s 9th anniversary, the game is bringing back the Omega Molecule Stabilization event. If you can collect enough Omega particles you will be able to lay claim to the T6 Vulcan Scout Ship. The expansion will also be introducing the Personal Endeavors System which will allow players to try and obtain performance boosts and more.

Next: No Captain Kirk on Discovery for the foreseeable future

A full list of what is included in the update will be revealed when Star Trek Online: Mirror of Discovery is released on PC on January 23. The Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions will follow later.
