Star Trek: Discovery – The Enterprise War novel announced

The next novel set in the world of Star Trek: Discovery has been revealed and it will focus and Captain Christopher Pike and the Starship Enterprise.

On Thursday the long-awaited second season of Star Trek: Discovery arrives on CBS All Access and with it will come a few new yet familiar faces. Captain Christopher Pike and his trusty Number One will join the show and with them will be the U.S.S. Enterprise herself.

However, one nagging question has likely been plaguing fans from the moment the Enterprise showed up in the last moments of the final episode of Discovery‘s first season: Where exactly was the Enterprise and Captain Pike during the events of the Klingon War?

Well, we can tell you now that you won’t find the answers in the second season of Discovery. Because it turns out the story will be told in the next Star Trek: Discovery tie-in novel titled The Enterprise War.

Announced by the author of the novel John Jackson Miller on his blog, The Enterprise War will serve as a prelude to Season 2 and reveal exactly what the crew of the Enterprise was doing during the first season of Star Trek: Discovery. According to Miller he consulted with the producers of the show to make sure the book ties in seamlessly to what fans will see in the upcoming season.

Miller also revealed the official description for The Enterprise War from Gallery Books and CBS:

The four previous Discovery novels have been very well received and Miller is no stranger to the world of Star Trek. He wrote the Star Trek: Prey trilogy which celebrated Trek’s 50th anniversary as well as entires in the Titan and Next Generation novel lines.
