Anson Mount added to Star Trek Las Vegas 2019

Anson Mount is the latest captain to be added to the guest list for the annual mother of all Trek conventions, Star Trek Las Vegas 2019.

It used to be that if you were willing to put some miles on your car, you could easily find a Star Trek convention to attend almost every other weekend. And why wouldn’t you? Three days of nothing but talking about, watching and debating Star Trek sounds like many a Trekkers perfect weekend.

However, sometime over the last decade or so, true Star Trek cons have become fewer and fewer. Most have been replaced by those mammoth pop culture shows like the ones put on by Wizard World, where Trek is mixed with a number of other genre franchises. Sure, there are still the smaller ones, but the days when you could go to a huge show where Star Trek was front and center seem over for the most part.

Except of course, for that one weekend every year in the desert sands of Nevada during the height of the summer. Because that’s when Star Trek Las Vegas takes place.

For Trek fans, Star Trek Las Vegas has become their own San Diego Comic-Con. It’s a impossibly massive show where everything Star Trek is on display. Put on by Creation Entertainment, the annual event has quickly become a bucket list item for many fans and this year seems like another impressive edition.

The guest list for this year’s show was already one that would make any fan’s eyes bulge out in excitement. It includes over 60 guests including Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes. Roxann Dawson, Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig as well as a pair of captains in the form of William Shatner and Kate Mulgrew.

And now you can add Captain Pike to the list as well.

Announced this week on Star Trek.com, Anson Mount from Star Trek: Discovery has been added to the guest list. He is the first cast member from Discovery to join this year’s show but something tells me he won’t be the last.

Considering San Diego Comic-Con is only a couple weeks before, don’t be surprised if CBS holds some big news for the Las Vegas show. You have been warned.
