Amanda Grayson was the wife of Vulcan Diplomat Sarek, and the mother of fan favourite character, Spock, originally played by Jane Wyatt and later by Cynthia Blaise, Mia Kirshner, and Winona Ryder.

Amanda first appeared on screen in The Original Series episode Journey to Babel in which she assists in clearing her husband of suspicion in a murder during a conference. Amanda was mentioned often by Spock during the series, yet she only appeared once on the screen.

Jane Wyatt would later reprise the role for The Voyage Home, however, she had since been recast during The Animated Series due to budget constraints and was instead voiced by Majel Barrett during the series.  In The Final Frontier Amanda Grayson appeared again in a flashback, this time played by the younger Cynthia Blaise, this remains her only acting credit.

When the Kelvin Timeline was launched in 2009 the role went to Winona Ryder, a version of Amanda who was killed during the destruction of Vulcan at the hands of the Romulan Captain Nero as revenge on Spock. Her death was eventually the cause of Spock losing command of the Enterprise to Captain Kirk.

In Discovery Amanda has appeared several times, now played by Mia Kirshner, and giving us a much better look into her life and exploits in the years leading up to the events of Journey To Babel.
