Star Trek Into Darkness Bridge Crew

03: Better: New missions for the old Crew

As the saying goes You can never go home again’, no matter how much we want. it or have wanted it the cast of Star Trek The Original Series won’t be returning to their roles again, sure we might see a cameo or Easter egg appearance by one or another at some point, but with several having passed away and others lacking the inclination or capability the journey of the original cast came to an end in 1991.

But while the cast has moved on the crew is another story, thanks to some fantastic casting choices we had the opportunity to revisit, admittedly slightly altered versions of, the original crew going on new missions once again.

There were many who doubted the abilities of the actors to portray the crew as true representations of the characters as opposed to poor caricatures of the actors who had played them, but one look at Star Trek 2009 and it’s obvious that a lot of research, skill, reverence and care went into crafting each actor into their character, It was a refreshing look at all of them done in a way that respected the original while pushing the character forward.

It may not have gone home, but having our crew back and going on new journeys was pretty close.

Because the new trilogy allowed us to revisit the old crew on new missions we have to rate it as better for the Kelvin Timeline.
