Five Star Trek feature films are arriving on Amazon Prime later in July, which illustrates the problems trying to stream everything Star Trek online.

If you are trying to stream all of Star Trek online, you will now be adding Amazon Prime to your ever growing list of streaming services.

It was announced by CNET that five of the Star Trek feature films are heading to the Amazon Prime streaming service beginning later this month. They include Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country starring the cast of The Original Series along with Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection and the infamous Star Trek: Nemesis which all starred the cast from The Next Generation.

Of the five, Star Trek: Nemesis is sure to garner the most attention. The film, which is widely considered the worst of the four Next Generation movies, might end up playing a role in the events of the upcoming Star Trek: Picard. That alone is enough for most fans to give the film, which featured Tom Hardy as a clone of Picard and heavily involved the Romulan Empire, a second look.

The addition of the five films to Amazon Prime again illustrates what is becoming one of the biggest issues with streaming. While it used to be you could subscribe to Netflix and maybe Hulu and see everything you wanted, that just isn’t the case anymore.

All the prior television shows are currently available on Netflix for streaming. The films are kind of all over the place with the bulk now available on Amazon Prime. Then there is Star Trek: Discovery, Picard and the rest of the new Alex Kurtzman created content which is only available on CBS All Access.

It’s no wonder many fans are returning to buying Blu-rays and 4K Ultra HD physical media. In the long run, it might actually be cheaper and easier than subscribing to multiple streaming services to watch everything you want.
