A free and all digital Star Trek convention is coming.

Star Trek fans hoping for a summer convention to remember are out of luck as the Covid-19 pandemic has shuttered most in-door events until December. Yet, that doesn’t mean all is lost. Thanks to Ryan T. Husk and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko), there will be a summer Trek convention for those to enjoy, no masks required!

Though an internet connection is a must.

The hosts of the 7th Rule Podcast, Lofton, and Husk are holding Virtual Trek Con all digitally through YouTube and have recruited the Falling Tower YouTube channel to help.

What are the details?

As described by TrekMovies.com, the event will be done entirely online, through YouTube and will feature a host of unique events.

"Virtual Trek Con, which will be a six-day event running from July 22-27. This online con will be done entirely through live streams on YouTube and will include a combination of interview premieres with live chats, panel discussions, live guest-fan interactions, virtual hangouts/after parties, and compilation videos from clips sent in by the fans."

The event will feature two separate channels hosting the events and will present them as digital stages, paying tribute to recently departed Trek actors Aron Eisenberg and Rene Auberjonois.

"Best of all, the Virtual Trek Con is entirely free, with all the events being streamed live on two ‘stages’ on YouTube. The 7th Rule YouTube channel will be the Aron Eisenberg Stage, with the Falling Tower YouTube channel being the Rene Auberjonois Stage."

So far 20 names have been announced, including actors like Nichelle Nichols (TOS Uhuru), Doug Jones (Saru), Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys), Armin Shimerman (Quark), Alexander Siddig (Julian Bashir), Robert Beltran (Chakotay), Gary Graham (Soval), Lofton (Jake Sisko), Hana Hatae (Molly O’Brien), Tracee Cocco (various roles), Rico E. Anderson, Darnell Davis, and Darth Schuhe.

Several behind the scenes personnel will also be there, like writers Ira Steven Behr and Robert Hewitt Wolfe, as well as authors like Larry Nemecek and Dr. Mohamed Noor.

More are expected to be announced later. To keep up with the Virtual Trek Con, stay tuned to VirtualTrekCon.com for updates.
