SCREENRANT believes Spock’s Brain is the most hated Star Trek storyline of all time, but that couldn’t be further from reality.

The folks at SCREENRANT do great work. One of the better sites to visit. Yet, on this one, we’re not going to agree. They believe the worst Star Trek storyline of all time is Spock’s Brain. While not good, it’s not bad. If you enjoy campy silliness that is. If you’re looking for serious Trek-fare, yeah, probably not your cup of tea. Yet, if you’re ok with the old-school camp of the ’60s, then you’ll enjoy Spock’s Brain for what it is.

The truly worse Star Trek storyline, or episode that was ever made isn’t even in dispute. It’s the Star Trek: Voyager episode “Threshold”. Sure, opinions are opinions and there is no such thing as a “correct” opinion but there is. This is one of those opinions.

Look at the two episodes, “Threshold” and “Spock’s Brain“. Both are bad, but both are bad for different reasons. In “Spock’s Brain”, Spock gets his brain snatched by a group of Valley Girls who need a dude to tell them how to live. Silly, but harmless.

In “Threshold”, a very likable character in Tom Paris goes too fast in his shuttle, starts to morph into a lizard of all things, abducts his captain, and, well, has babies with her. While both shows feature obvious crimes being committed, only Voyager had the heroes of the series doing these things. Granted, yes, it wasn’t Paris really. It was the de-evolution that Paris was going through. His proverbial lizard brain took over.

He and Janeway also had baby lizard-things, which cannot of been consensual.

There’s nothing redeeming about “Threshold”. It’s not silly, it’s not funny, it’s not interesting or unique. The concept isn’t even one that’s sound. Kidnapping your Captain and forcing her to have your lizard babies is the worst idea that Star Trek has ever brought to life.

And it didn’t even make their top ten. Shame.
