A Starfleet Academy television series has been rumored for quite some time, but CBS hasn’t revealed anything official

Star Trek fans have only gotten glimpses of Starfleet Academy over the years, but it’s been enough to make us want to know more. Although, it would be fun to see how some of the characters we know and love got through the Academy, it would be just as interesting to see some of our favorites taking a position behind the podium to dole out wisdom. One of them was already heading in that direction when we last saw him.

Chief O’Brien

Colm Meaney imbued this character with just the right amount of patience which he proved over and over when teaching Jake, Nog, and Rom on Deep Space Nine. When we last saw him, he’d taken an assignment to teach at Starfleet Academy. And while teaching certainly wouldn’t be as exciting as some of the away missions he had at Deep Space Nine, there are still certainly plenty of ways for O’Brien to get in trouble, especially if he had a teaching assistant. Maybe Nog could be convinced to leave the station.

Lt. Commander Tuvok

We got a taste of Tuvok’s teaching capabilities when he was training the Marquis aboard Voyager. He had a difficult time with it because he was so unyielding, and they didn’t want to be there. Cadets at the Academy would, presumably, want to be there so that would be in Tuvok’s favor, but even so, these students would be teenagers. And seeing how the ever-logical Vulcan deals with teenage angst would be fascinating.

B’Elanna Torres

Half-Klingon and half-human, B’Elanna struggled with her two sides, and it’s that struggle that would make her an excellent teacher at Starfleet Academy. Cadets come from all walks of life, and the Academy needs someone like B’Elanna who can understand why one might not be performing to their best potential. Certainly, with having been expelled from the Academy herself, she would probably recognize when a cadet was having issues and could guide that student down the path to success.
