Robert Picardo could solve your romance problems…maybe

Robert Picardo, best known for playing The Doctor on Star Trek: Voyager, has a unique spin on his Youtube channel

Portraying the often disapproving Emergency Medical Hologram on Star Trek: Voyager for seven seasons, Robert Picardo showcased his humor, his talent, and his creativity, and now he’s carrying that over into his Youtube Channel. While fans are just now finding his Technobabble walks in the woods, where Picardo shares the challenging lines he had to memorize for the show, others are falling in love with Alphonso, the Italian with a flair for the dramatic.

In case you don’t know who Alphonso is, he’s Picardo’s alter-ego who dispenses advice to help your love life…sort of. Wearing a hairpiece, an elaborate smoking jacket, and affecting a thick accent, Picardo shares bits of spicy advice that could potentially help a relationship. Or prevent you from getting into one in the first place.

Each video is short, running around a minute, often less, and is a perfect example of the talent Picardo possesses that we didn’t get the opportunity to see on Voyager. And they are hysterically funny if you don’t mind a bit of ribald humor. Picardo pulls it off so well, coming across as both sincere and helpful in each clip.

And if you’re not in the mood for romance, you still should check out Robert Picardo’s channel for his “Death by” scenes and the walks in the woods. Right now, he only has 46 videos, but he’s been adding them more frequently than when he first started the channel.

While Alphonso might not be able to help you with your love life issues, he can sure make you laugh about the things going wrong…or right. And it’s fun to imagine him giving any of this type of advice to Captain Janeway or Commander Chakotay when they were struggling with their attraction to one another in the earlier seasons of the show. Something tells me it wouldn’t have been as well-received there.
