The Star Trek: Voyager documentary initially began production in March 2020, but everything was put on hold due to the pandemic

Now, 455 Films, the production company heading up the documentary is ready to move forward, and the next step they intend to take is crowdfunding. Beginning March 1st, Star Trek: Voyager fans will have the opportunity to help support the production of the documentary and get some cool stuff as well. Series star Garrett Wang, who portrayed Ensign Harry Kim, shared an encouraging post about the documentary and urged fans to contribute to get some “cool rewards for helping to make this project happen.”

2020 was the 25th anniversary of the series, and the entire cast assembled via livestream back in May for a reunion on the Stars in the House Youtube channel since original plans for an in-person reunion could not be held. This documentary was originally intended to be ready in time for the celebration as well. Now, though, fans will be able to pre-order the documentary beginning March 1st by donating to the campaign to raise funds for continued production.

Crowdsourcing was also used for the What We Left Behind: Star Trek Deep Space Nine documentary which was also created by 455 films, raising almost $650,000 through Indiegogo.  Contributors were able to donate and receive special gifts along with their donation, including a Kira/Quark/Garak t-shirt, a signed Deep Space Nine Complete Series Box Set, and donors even had the chance to attend a Vic Fontaine One Night Special event. Fans who donate to the Star Trek: Voyager documentary will likely see similar gifts depending upon their donation amount.

To keep up-to-date with the progress of the documentary, you can subscribe to the Voyager Documentary Youtube channel which already has a 43-minute livestream with the production team available so you can learn more.
