Star Trek: Discovery star Jayne Brook and science consultant Dr. Mohamed Noor have created a Star Trek themed science show

Airing on Dr. Noor’s Youtube channel, Biotrekkie Explains, the series, Biotrekkie with the Admiral, will offer discussions about real world science. Dr. Noor, who is a biology professor at Duke University, has been the science consultant for the third season of Star Trek: Discovery while Jayne Brook played Admiral Katrina Cornwell in the first two seasons of the series. She perished in the second season finale.

In Biotrekkie with the Admiral, Moor and Brook will discuss each season of Discovery with two episodes at a time. Each episode of Biotrekkie will be 30 minutes and won’t be focused on explaining scenes that have happened in Discovery as much as using those scenes to facilitate the discussion of real-life biology. At the end of each episode, Brook will talk about her insights into acting and the production of a television series. So, essentially, both Brook and Noor will be teachers at various times throughout the episode.

In the video above, Noor and Brook talk about their first meeting and what precipitated the creation of his new series. Dr. Noor is the author of Live Long and Evolve which Brook believes planted the seed to start it. The pair met at a Star Trek convention and became fast friends. Brook spoke with students in his class, and after that, Noor realized the two needed to come up with a project together, believing they both had something to offer the Trekkie community as well as others interested in acting and/or biology.

There will be a lot to learn on the videos that will be available weekly on Sundays at 8am Pacific starting January 10, 2021.
