Star Trek themed weddings are popular for fans who want to showcase their love for the fandom as well as their love for their soon-to-be spouse. There’s so much interest in these types of nuptials that you don’t have to look very hard to find help. Pinterest has a board dedicated to helping people plan their Star Trek wedding that has over 25,000 followers, and the craft-selling site, Etsy, has a little bit of everything you need to make sure you get your wedding right.

And speaking of getting it right, when you’re all in for a wedding that highlights the two loves of your life, you have to make sure you get the officiant right. Why use a pastor or notary public when you could use a member of Starfleet or even…a member of the Q continuum? That’s what two Trekkies did when they decided to tie the knot, and not only did a member of the Q show up in proper dress, she outdid herself with the speech and vows. It’s one of those you have to hear to believe. You can watch the entire ceremony below.

But if you’d rather read what the officiant, Elaine May, had to say, the transcript is available at OffBeatBride.com. I have to say, though, there’s nothing quite like hearing Elaine’s delivery. She portrays a perfectly bored and repulsed Q that would have made John de Lancie proud, and the final announcement that the couple is now husband and wife comes with just the right amount of dismissal and revulsion.

Fortunately, there are plenty of officiants like Elaine that will get into the spirit of things like portraying a female Spock, or any other member of the Fleet. Because even after the credits roll on the last episode of the last Star Trek series ever, the fandom will never die, meaning Star Trek weddings will stay alive as well.

dark. Next. Zachary Quinto would officiate a wedding as Spock for the right price
