Star Trek writer Nicholas Meyer wrote a Khan prequel series set on Ceti Alpha V.

For Star Trek fans, especially of the original films, Nicholas Meyer is a legend. He wrote Star Trek’s  Wrath of Khan, The Voyage Home, and The Undiscovered Country; though was uncredited for his work on the Wrath of Khan. For those not paying attention, Star Trek’s II, IV, and VI (the three he wrote) are considered the best of the originals. Meyer is Star Trek royalty.

Meyer also wrote a treatment for a Khan Noonien Singh prequel series, set on Ceti Alpha V. The very same planet that Khan was on when the events of the second film picked up. This is an awesome idea, but there’s more there to mine if we get a bit creative.

Instead of watching a series, be it mini or maxi, of Khan losing his mind and developing plans to attack James T. Kirk and the good-ship Enterprise, why not set the entire series in the Mirror Universe.

This way you can set the story as Khan being a freedom fighter against the tyranny of the Terran Empire. Everything else can be the same but presented in a different light.

Instead of Khan being a genocidal sociopath, who feels the unenhanced deserve to die, you make him a tragic character that was experimented on and made into enhanced beings. Then you can have the evil Starfleet leave them on Ceti Alpha V after they become too hard to control and left to die, only to survive and thrive on their new planet.

The events of the show could showcase how things came to be, while also highlighting life on their new colony and the dealings they have to incur with the Terran Empire every so often while figuring out what they should do next; stay or try to flee to a better planet so they can live in more comfort and peace.

It’d be a brilliant idea and could work as a miniseries or a full-length, multiple-season series.
