Noah Hawley penned a script for a new Star Trek film that was mind-blowing.

Apparently, Noah Hawley can write. At least that’s what Star Trek: Discovery and Picard composer Jeff Russo would have you believe. Speaking to TrekMovies, Russo was very candid about Hawley’s prowess, expressing the fact that he read the script and thought fans would have had their minds blown.

Russo is quoted as saying;

"The way he explained it to me made me feel like the fans are going to lose their mind. It literally felt like that, to me. Lose their mind… I read the script and my call to him was the fans are going to lose their mind, because of just what the story was."

Russo also said the film was going to answer lingering questions in the Star Trek mythos.

Noah Hawley’s film won’t see the light of day.

The problem with Hawley’s film is that it won’t ever see the light of day; more than likely. The next film is coming out in 2023 and the writer/director will probably not have anything to do with it. Instead, Discovery writer, Kalinda Vazquez, is taking on the project.

No word yet on what Vazquez’s film was going to be about, or Hawley’s for that matter. Though, rumor had Hawley’s film dealing with an intergalactic pandemic. Considering the climate, many thought that wouldn’t play too well in the midwest.

The other big issue that either film would have/will face is the cast. As of right now, the current plan is to not embrace the Kelvin timeline, with series overlord Alex Kurtzman making it clear the film and television side of things need to be in conjunction with another.

That means no Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, or the rest of the Kelvin timeline, which is sad as there were rumors that the fourth Kelvin film was going to feature Chris Hemsworth returning to the franchise as James Kirk’s father.

Through time travel, obviously.
