A new rumor has certain cast members of Star Trek: Enterprise returning.

Cue the “It’s been a long road…” jokes now. A new rumor from Giant Freaking Robot is claiming that several members of the original Enterprise of Star Trek: Enterprise fame will be returning to the new set of shows. The website credits a reliable source that has helped them break news in the past, so take it for what’s its worth. They clearly trust their source.

Here’s what Giant Freaking Robot is reporting, saying;

"We have already reported that the series is planning to bring back Scott Bakula as Captain Jonathan Archer and it looks like that is going to expand even further to other memorable cast members from Enterprise. Specifically, we hear that there is significant interest in bringing back characters like T’Pol, Dr. Phlox, and other members from the Enterprise part of the franchise. Discussions are currently happening at CBS/Paramount."

Could we really Star Trek: Enterprise characters return?

Keep in mind, the rumor claims there is “interest”, not “plans to”. So this is clearly still just in the discussions stages of things. That said, the rumors of Scott Bakula returning to Star Trek have been picking up steam since the end of 2020, and with the cancellation of his NCIS: New Orleans series on CBS, it seems even more possible than ever before that Bakula could reprise his role as Captain Jonathan Archer.

Bringing back Phlox and T’Pol also make sense, as they’re aliens with longer life cycles than that of the average human.

They could also use those characters, not as distant-future-versions of themselves but as appropriately aged versions, who team up with a different cast of characters to go back in time and save Charles “Trip” Tucker.

Since the series finale killed off Trip, and fans hated it, why not retcon it so that it never happened? Would be a great idea if pulled off right.
