There has been a lot of talks about reboots of Star Trek series, most recently for Star Trek: Enterprise. But Star Trek: The Next Generation hasn’t been left out of the conversation as Brent Spiner, who portrayed Lt. Commander Data, recently said that he believes a motion picture version of The Next Generation is only a matter of time. With such a movie remake, all of the roles would have to be recast, and Marina Sirtis, who played Counselor Deanna Troi, has just the person in mind to pick up the mantle for her character—Mila Kunis. Unsurprisingly, Kunis, who is a Trekkie, is on board with the idea.
When being interviewed for her movie, Jupiter Ascending, Kunis was made aware of Sirtis’ choice by her interviewer, and she didn’t even attempt to contain her excitement at the suggestion.
"WHAT? YES! I love Deanna Troi. She’s awesome. I would totally put in those contact lenses and call it a day, big poofy hair, curl, like get a perm…"
The Next Generation is Kunis’ favorite of the Star Trek series, and likely, portraying one of her favorite characters would be a dream come true for the fan. Not to mention, Kunis, with her knowledge of the show and her appreciation for it, could undoubtedly carry the role quite well. When the interviewer added that Sirtis had said Kunis would be perfect for the next Counselor Troi, Kunis was beyond ecstatic, saying “That makes me so happy! Thank you so much! I love it!”
Now, we can only hope that a TNG movie will come to fruition as many fans would love to see where a new cast of actors could take the Enterprise. Granted, some probably aren’t as thrilled by the idea, but the likelihood seems strong regardless.
