Star Trek is getting an awesome new Playmobil set featuring the original Enterprise
By Chad Porto
Parents and Star Trek collectors will soon be able to get a Playmobil Enterprise.
Whether you’re a parent of a Star Trek fan or a collector of Star Trek memorabilia (or Playmobil sets), the world of Star Trek is about to get a lot more fun, with their launch of the U.S.S. Enterprise and crew in Playmobil form.
The model is just like you’d remember it from the original series, and every main character is there too. James Kirk, Spock, Nyota Uhura, Montgomery Scott, Dr. Bones McCoy, Hikaru Sulu, and of course Pavel Chekov. The ship also comes with accessories like what appears to be the Playmobil’s version of Tribbles, phasers, tricorders, and even a stand for the ship.
It even comes with a light that beams from the bottom of the saucer section. Plus there’s a small section in the base that opens up for a mini-engine room, complete with a little miny warp core.
Star Trek fans should get ready to pay for this Playmobil Enterprise
Playmobil released this description of the ship and crew, saying;
"Where’s Captain Kirk? Why he’s on the bridge of the Playmobil 70548 Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Playset! Quite possibly the biggest and most deluxe Playmobil playset created up to this point, this 42-inch long, 18-inch wide starship includes electronic lights and sounds that can be controlled by your smart device! It includes a display cradle, plus wire for ceiling suspension if that’s your preferred means of display. The set includes a marvelous ship modeled after its appearance on the original series, plus figures and accessories. You’ll get Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Ensign Chekov, Lt. Uhura, Captain James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, Lt. Sulu, and of course Chief Engineer Montgomery “Scott” Scotty. That’s a lot of fun in one big box!The saucer section of the Enterprise opens up to show a full 1966-style bridge play environment. What’s more, the body of the ship opens up on the side to show you an engineering room. Other accessories and electronic surprises are coming as well, so don’t miss the iconic ship!"
Despite the fact it’s a kid’s toy and potentially not-so-rare collectible, the ship is quite the pretty penny. It’s going for $499.99 over at EntertainmentEarth.com. The official Playmobil website hasn’t launched the set yet, so you’re going to have to wait a bit before purchasing it on there.
