Dave Bautista wants to play a Klingon in Star Trek.

For many, Dave Bautista is Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy. To many more, he’s Batista, former WWE World Champion and Hall of Fame inductee. Yet, to himself, he’s a kid who grew up poor with dreams of being a Klingon in Star Trek.

The whole exchange started when Bautista rejected the idea of doing a movie with fellow WWE alumni, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John “Taiwan is a country, you goof” Cena. This ended up with a fan tweeting at him that he’d like to see Bautista get a turn in Star Trek at some point.

As Bautista’s credits are shockingly diverse for a man of his size, the idea itself wasn’t a new one for the pro-wrestler-turned-actor.

Dave Bautista would be an incredible choice to be a Klingon

The man has played so many roles and has done so many pieces of science fiction. He was in Guardians of the Galaxy and other Marvel movies. He has a role in the upcoming Dune remake, as well as being the emotional center of the Army of the Dead film. Not to mention the numerous sci-fi flicks he’s done that didn’t get some major release.

Bautista is comfortable in the sci-fi realm, so why wouldn’t he be comfortable kicking Federation butt as a member of the Klingon race.

His size, deep voice, and previous experience working as an alien in other properties seem to make him the perfect choice for the role. He was on Smallville after all, and if he can take on Clark Kent, he could take on a Star Trek captain.

The ironic thing is that two other ex-WWE wrestlers have appeared on Star Trek. The Rock popped up on an infamous episode of Voyager where he defeated Seven of Nine in a sanctioned fight. The Big Show, aka Paul Wight, was an Orion slaver during an episode of Enterprise.

So the groundwork has already been laid for Bautista.

Plus, he was in Chuck. No reason to bring that up, other than Chuck is awesome. Go watch Chuck.
