Star Trek: Discovery alum Michelle Yeoh lands a major role on The Witcher prequel.

For many Star Trek: Discovery fans, Michelle Yeoh is most known for her roles in the hit film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the 2007 sci-fi movie Sunshine and of course as Captain Philippa Georgiou on Star Trek: Discovery. Yeoh has finished her run on Discovery, for now anyway, and has since found a new major project to work on.

It was announced on Twitter that Yeoh will be joining the cast of the Witcher prequel, Blood Origin, coming in to play the character of Scian. The character is the last of a group of elves, who are known for their nomadic lifestyles. The character is on a quest of sorts, to change the fate of the Continent.

"The Witcher: Blood Origin has cast Michelle Yeoh as Scían. The very last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves, she is an artist with the blade, on a deadly quest that will change the fate of the Continent."

Fans love Yeoh on Discovery and it’s very probably she was considered for this role due to her surging popularity in the United States. She joins Jodie Turner-Smith and Laurence O’Fuarain as talent already announced for the series.

Michelle Yeoh a big get for the Witcher franchise

The Witcher franchise started off as a book series no one really knew about. That was until a game was made, and not a very good game at that. That first installment of the franchise did sell enough to warrant a sequel and that’s where the hype truly began to build. By the third game, the franchise was a bonafide hit, and then came the announcement of the series on Netflix.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavil of Superman fame as the main character and the series did so well that Netflix eagerly jumped onto the prequel idea. Getting Yeoh for the role was huge for the series, especially since her profile is trending upward.

Thanks in part to her turn on Star Trek: Discovery.
